The "Worm" is back! NASA's iconic logo to return to space!

Posted by Galaxy Star Apparel on

The beloved retro futurist logo NASA used from 1975 until it was retired in 1992 is making a comeback!

In the mid 70's NASA had just finished the Apollo era and was looking to modernize its late 50's imagery. The firm of Danne & Blackburn was hired to update NASA's public face. Doing so they created a logo that 28 years after retirement is still widely recognized, loved, and praised.

Earlier this month NASA announced that the "worm" will be making an appearance on the Falcon 9 rocket which will launch astronauts from American soil for the first time since the Space Shuttle Program ended in 2011.

Currently Scheduled to launch one month from today on May 27th. Crew Dragon Demo-2, will be the first crewed test flight of the Crew Dragon spacecraft.

NASA hopes the retro design of the agency’s logo will help capture the excitement of a new, modern era of human spaceflight.

We have a great collection of NASA worm apparel and gifts for you in our shop if you want to celebrate the return of the "worm". Our designs have been appoved for sale by NASA and all strictly conform to Danne & Blackburn's NASA Graphics Standards Manual which govern the use of the NASA worm logotype.
